Well today is my GI appt and I decided to have surgery. I thought it over for awhile, and also talked to a few people I know that had the surgery, and they said it was the best decision they made they feel a lot better. But my only concern is my gi won't do it because he wants me to have humira, but he gave me the options of surgery or humira and I picked surgery. So my question is can he refuse my choose? Or tell me to find another gi?

Very odd that he would give you the options and then refuse one of them. I'd let him know your decision has not been taken lightly and see what he says. He may have additional information or recently thought of/learned something that is making him think Humira might be better. Good luck!

I have an appointment that day, so it will remind me to think of you then. Good luck, and keep us posted.

Make sure you discuss post surgery care. Depending on your specific type of crohn's (I have stricturing) remicade or humira afterwards can really work to stop new strictures from forming. Worth looking into - in my case it would have saved three surgeries if they started it when they could have.

We had a similar situation. My son needed surgery due to stricturing in his small intestine and his GI was not in favor of it. Kept pushing 6MP at us. While my son was in the ER I found out that our GI had simply read the radiologist's report of his recent MRE, but had not looked at the slides personally. If he had, as the surgeon explained, he would have seen that the stricture was all scar, 6" long and only 3mm in diameter. I was furious!

While inpatient, we switched to another GI in the same clinic who was supportive of the surgery.

Surgery gave my son his life back. Best. Decision. Ever. Good luck!!!
