I was just recently diagnosed and already posted a "your story" thread awhile ago. I was told the infection or damage was in my small intestine but i am afraid that it has spread to my anus. I am having painful bowels, though they are very soft, the exit has become painful. I dont think i am losing any blood, but if i wipe hard enough (trying to completely clean the area to avoid a rash or something, which is what i thought it was at first) there is a very small amount of light blood. I dont really know what is going on and i am concerned. I am seeing a specialist on Monday and I guess i could talk to him (though talk about awkward conversation, I am a very shy, conserved person). I just wanted to know if you guys had any input that could help me out into what the heck is going on.

Hi Kaitlyn, I was recently diagnosed aswell, but have been dealing with it for a year.
I'm no expert but I thought i'd just say, painful bowel movements and bleeding are a huge part of crohns, so your not the only one, my bowel movements are extremely painful and bloody. When you see a specialist she/he will probably give you some medication.

I wouldn't stress out about it. Just make sure you tell the specialist all of your symptoms. Many of us have blood and pain. Don't be afraid to talk about that stuff here or with the dr. either. We're all use to it and don't get queasy about it.

Frequent bathroom trips can cause things to be irritated back there. If it is painful you might want to give baby wipes a try, they feel a lot better than regular toilet paper when you are very sore.

I think i use more Desitin then my 1 year old who still in diapers lovely stuff that Desitin

I have the same thing periodically, today as a matter of fact.
It tends to be from the acid in the diaireah(sp?) and from the frequency of the bowel movements.
The bleeding is probally occurring on the outside of your anus and can be helped with any type of diaper rash cream and a pad to absorb the cream so your undies don't get gross.

Blood on paper is common with Crohn's. Try not to get too distressed about it. It isn't a sign of infection, but probably more irritation.
