Yes that's fairly normal. When I did mine I would have huge swollen and warm welts for 4 or 5 days after. They were itchy too.

It will hurt a bit, after all - any time I get a shot it hurts.
I pressed on the injection site afterwards and iced it, and the bruises were always very small. If you don't press on it, it will bleed a little under the skin surface, causing a bigger bruise.
I hope you get quick results!

Mine tend to bruise more on my belly. The first couple came out in massive bruises on my stomach but my thigh area seems to be a better spot (no bruising or swelling). The nurse told me to mix up the spots where you give yourself the injection. I still have the red marks where the bruises were after 6 weeks. I'm due for my next injection today. I've had no other side effects but it doesn't seem to be working for me, I still have all symptoms of CD and need to stay on Pred and Flagyl to be able to function, but I'm still remaining hopeful! I hope you have more luck with it Shoeless!

i find my leg is the best spot for it. but i hate it. hurts so bad. but make sure u pinch a large area of skin and push it with steady pressure, one time i didnt do that and i got a bruise. hurt to walk for a day.
