About a week ago starting june 21st i woke up with some horrible cramps never have i dealt with this and i was using the restroom a lot which is not like me i am one that may not have a BM for a week. Well Sunday morning June 22nd i woke up and i couldn't even move and once i ate breakfast it made it worse i was going so much and it was kinda not a normal smelling bm and it had mucous in it and thats what it completely turned to because i was going every 15 mins which after awhile it turned to just mucous. Well for 5 days i was laid up on the couch no vomitting at all no fever couldn't eat at all even jello cramped me and so did soup broth. Well my dr had provided me a stool sample on june 22nd and when i went it was ruined becasue of some court issues i had to take care of. So i went on just thinking a bug or something. well kept going on so finally i went into the dr cz i was still having mucousy bms after everything i ate. so i went in and they redid the stool sample which i havent had to go and they gave me the antibotics that you would give for crohns. well as of today its feeling better somewhat and i had spoken with a good friends mom whose son has crohns and from what i was telling her she said it seemed like thats what it could be and i need to get a refereal to a gastologist. the way she explained if i had cdiff or some other bug it wouldnt magically clear up this quick from a med and i would of gotten worse by now even being in a antibotic. so just wondering what everyone thinks, i am unsure if any family members have it the one person that couldof would be my grandmother and she is passed away and there is a poss my dad does as he had had colon cancer..any input would help. the reason i don't think its cdiff is working in a medical field well when i did i saw many of my residents with it and my bms never looked anything like that. i do smoke i do have stress and i drink a lot of mtn dew..thanks so much and hope to kinda get some input on this..

Hi and welcome.
I think you should get s referral to a GI doctor.

I couldn't say if you have c.diff or not. The pain when eating and the mucus should be investigated. Have you had blood work done? A colonoscopy with biopsies is the best way to diagnose inflammatory bowel disease.

Sending you my support. I hope you get some answers.

Some antibiotics are given for infections and the treatment will usually have good effect if it is a bacterial infection and the offending bacteria are susceptible to it..
Antibiotics will not cure crohn's.
For appropriate diagnosis it is usual to see a gastroenterologist who will make certain investigations , the main one being a colonoscopy.
There are other GI investigations this doctor may wish to pursue and which includes a full bloodwork analysis.
If you are still having symptoms it would be a wise course of action to seek the advice of a good GI.
Feel better soon
Hugs and best wishes

yes i had blood tests done and they had come back normal. i know there are other tests so i will def get the referral. what do they check for in blood or is there a certain one they have to run for that i know my ketones were really low and my sodium which is not at all normal lol...so with the blood tests is there a certain one they do do just for that?

Thank you, and yes i know it wouldn't be to cure it but i know she gave those to fight off whatever it is and she said this is also one that they use to fight the infection in crohns if for some reason it happened to be that but it isn't a cure..thanks everyone i sent my dr a email and hoping to get a referral because i know this pain isn't cool at all when it happens and i know that is prolly something i may end up having to deal with on and off for the rest of my life with whatever it could be. sometimes the cramps were like i was going into labor and the pressure and some burning when i had to go at times with the bad cramps..

Acute colitis would also fit with your symptoms and timeline. It is a bacterial infection of the colon, but NOT the same as Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis. My husband was hospitalized for acute colitis and was beginning to feel better within 24 hours of starting antibiotics.
