Hi, I am Ang. Mom to a 5 year old with UC, he was diagnosed at 2. DH also has CD, he was diagnosed in 2009. My son’s UC seems to be pretty much under control, DH’s on the other hand . . . not so well. So while I am not an "active" IBD suffer, I consider myself to be "on the other side" of this disease.
Nice to meet everyone!

Welcome Ang, the number of South Africans on this forum is growing nicely!

I am sure you will find lots of quality info here and at the same time make many friends who are in similar situations.

Trust DH will find relief soon. I also have CD, fortunately in remission currently.

Enjoy your stay!

Welcome to the forum Ang!

We have many members who have children or other family members that are affected by IBD. It is great that like them you are learning more about the disease and hopefully help them live with their conditions in a better way than they do now.

You might want to check out our Parents of Kids with IBD forum or the Partners, Family & Friends with IBD forum to interact with others on the forum who are in a similar situation as you are.

Nice to meet you also and looking forward to seeing you around the forum again soon!

Greetings and welcome :) I'm glad you joined. It must be hard to be on the other side of the table so I'm glad you joined this community. There's plenty of people here on the same boat as you for you to connect with.

We're here for you anytime!

Thanks for all the warm welcomes :)
DH just had a subtotal colectomy a month prior. He has subsequently developed obstructions in his bowel that are inaccessible, he has a blood clot in the vein to the kidney and one in the vein to the liver. He also has pneumonia, is having a tracheotomy done today . . .
My son has only ever been on a 6 week prednisone course, and maintenance of Salazopyren.
DH has tried all the available drugs, as well as the trials and biological medication to no avail.

I Will def look into the stem cell therapy, thanks for the advice :lol2: and here I was thinking I'm well schooled in IBd!

Wow, sounds like he's had a rough time with it. I hope the doctors are able to get it under control soon. Welcome to the forum!

Hi Ang and :welcome:

Sorry to hear about your little guy and your big guy too!

It's good to read that your son seems to have things well in hand. :) Your husband on the other hand is certainly having a tough time of things. :( I hope things are setting for him and he is soon on the mend. Please keep us posted.

Good luck and welcome aboard!
