IBS or flare?

Hi, I've had CD in Large Bowel for quite a while, dx in 2001. Experiencing a flare that is unlike other flares I've had. Started early Nov, cycled back around late Nov. and I continue to have intermittent D with TONS of girgling and noise. GI doc hypothesizes it's IBS as a result of virus. Had colonoscopy last week, normal large bowel throughout. No biopsy results yet but D continues. Anyone else have experience either with CD moving to small intestines after having in the large intestines (GI doc is adament that is not the case-rarely happens),CD with IBS. Any suggestions I should make to GI doc when he calls with results of biopsy- like CT of small bowel, camera capsule?? I can manage the intermittent D if I knew it was IBS.
