Hi,

I have had persistent Crohn's Disease for a couple of years which is steadily getting worse. I have seen numerous doctors about the issue and because there is no known cure i am having a hard time finding the right course of action for me.

I have severe and persistent inflammation in my TI. According to my doctor, the two options open to me are surgery (a Ileo-Caecal Resection) or a course of immuno-suppressant drugs over 4-5 years.

Has anyone undertaken either of these two options and if so what were your experiences? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hiya Pat
and welcome

I've had the meds Azathioprine and Mercaptupurine (immuno supp) but was allergic to both of them, this was 7 years ago.
My Consultant has recommended the same surgery as you now, but gotta have a MRI scan next week first to see what's going on in my TI.
We do have quite an extensive range of info on these meds in our treatment section, as well as info in the surgery sections.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do
