Im really trying to get on with my essays but I'm so tired. Sleep doesn't help and neither does caffeine. Anyone got any advice/tips/cures for this??
P.S already take ferrous sulphate.:frown:

My disease affects my terminal ileum, where Vitamin B12 is absorbed. My doctor tested my B12 when I told her that I was tired all the time, and it was low. Eating foods with B12 won't help because I can't absorb it in my ileum, so she gave me a B12 shot. (Some people get these weekly.) I use sublingual (absorbed under the tongue) B12 vitamins whenever I flare. I've also used B12 nasal spray in the past. Supplemental B12 has been somewhat helpful in improving my fatigue. You just have to use a supplement that doesn't need to be digested (such as a pill you swallow or foods high in B12).

The best thing for IBD when you are feeling tired = REST! Your body is actually an amazing thing and has great abilities to heal. Rather try get the rest when you need it, than push yourself and get more fatigued.
Good luck with the studies!

I've been really suffering with fatigue lately, got recommended to a lady for reflexology, I've had 3 treatments so far and although the chrons is still raging I find that for at least a couple of days after I feel so awake and clear headed. I'm slightly skeptical about these things but very open to giving it a go, after the first treatment I just put it down to coincidence, second I thought maybe there might be something in it, third i was convinced. If nothing else it's a lovely way to spend an hour and I'm definitly learning the benefits of balancing the clinical, scarey and often painful side of my life with thgis stupid disease with something a little more pleasent....I believe its called taking time out for yourself, a new concept for me! :dog:

I would add working out or jogging a few times a week. I've been jogging 1-2miles, 4 times a week, for the last 3 weeks and found it helps considerably. Of course, supplementing boosting protein at the same time helps.

Also a full 8 hours of sleep every night is key. And eating a decent breakfast every day is necessary. These basic things help the most.

I agree with mnsun. Trying to get out and exercising a little bit helps tremendously. I know it seems conterproductive when you are so tired, but it really gives me the boost I need to get going often times.

I also do B-12 injections, they help out a lot.

Great advice guys. Since writing the thread I have come down with a dreadful cold and think that the tiredness could be part of this bug I have picked up. Will ask my doc about the b12 and get swimming again when I am feeling better.
