Immunosuppressants and acne

I`ve just been on 50 mg Imuran(Azathioprine) for about three weeks, and I`m now having the worst case of acne ever on my chin, jawline and neck! I think it must be the Imuran thats causing it, and I`ve quit them yesterday. I understand that this is a common side effect with Imuran..

My doctor thinks I`m having an allergic reaction to the Aza, but I thought it was the immunesuppressive effect in general that caused the acne??

Does anyone have experience with both Imuran, acne and other immunesuppressants?

I have been having the same reaction to humira. it make sense since acne is a infection and we can't fight infections.

this however doe not make me any happier.

I have had terrible cystic acne my whole life and some medications make it worse. I have been using proactiv for over a year and I have seen a huge improvement in my skin condition. I get a small pimple or 2 every month or so, instead of these huge infected cysts on my chin and jawline. My skin is clear most of the time. I will never stop using proactiv, and I wish I found it years ago.

I have had acne in the same areas on Remicade. Funny thing about it is that I've never had acne in my life until prednisone and Remicade.
