Is anyone using Imodium or any other over the counter drugs to help there IBD? Do they work and do they have side effect?

I'm thinking or starting Imodium to help my UC but am afraid it might cause other problems later on.

I would really reconsider considering taking imodium. I took it once after a D spell and found myself having C instead and I didn't go to the bathroom for two weeks after. I had the same diet and changed nothing.

Also I wanted to welcome to the forum.

Depends (I hate that word ever since I had to buy them) on the person...you have incidents like Jeffs and then mine. I take 2 of 'em 3 times daily and it seems to help some, they're cheap and fairly innocuous (compared to some of the other shit we're all on)...They slow things down for me, I've skipped them before and tend to notice some difference. I take them concommitantly with bentyl almost 100% of the time, but if I don't and just do bentyl (like I have lately as I have noticed some form to some stools and am testing myself) I sometimes can tell.

I'd talk to your GI if I were you, it's debatable...
