I just started to flare. (Just in time for finals too!) If I can manage to get food into my system, should I be eating food that's more calorie dense so I don't get too malnourished? I guess the last couple of times I flared, I wasn't in a position where I couldn't just rest all the time, but now I need to keep my energy up as much as possible so I can study for exams.

Thanks :)

If you want something that is calorie dense and nutritious you might look at trying something like ensure, or any equivalent meal replacement drink. I believe the ensure plus has more calories.

Good luck with your finals. :)

Yes, what the Canadian Santa said. You'll have to remember that high calorie and nutrient dense are sometimes not one and the same. With something like Ensure Plus they are, if you can tolerate it alright (it's lactose free)...

You'll need both a good influx of nutrients and calories to sustain and create energy, but also you don't want to risk a worsening by eating a lot of food that could make you worse, so you have to be cautious of what foods you ramp up.

Thank you for the advice :) I feel like I've had bad experiences with Ensure in the past but maybe it's something worth trying since I think it's been years since I've had any. (Although, in my experience, if I instinctively avoid a food, I usually realize why if I try it. But either way, I'm sure I can find foods that can help me keep my energy up.)
