I stumbled on here because I am worried about my increasing levels of ALP but they are not out of range, yet. I go in for a colonscopy on Tuesday to see whether or not I have IBD.

I would like to ask you about your ALP before or during diagnosis.

Here are my ALP levels in U/L

4/22/2009 - 86 (20-125)

1/26/2010 - 89 (40-115)

9/20/2010 - 69 (40-110)

11/10/2010 - 108 (50-136)

11/19/2011 - 126 (50-136)

11/20/2011 - 115 (50-136)

Does this look like early PSC?

Hi there and welcome to the forum :) sorry to hear you might have an IBD and hope you'll let us know how things go with the colonoscopy. About your question, sorry but there are too many acronyms for me. But we do have members here who might have the medical knowledge and experience to comment.
Did your doctor say anything about your results?

Hi dobong,

My children's ALP levels have always been stable but they have Ileal Crohn's so it would be less likely for them to have liver issues.

I think it would be hard to determine if these results were a predictor of PSC since they are still within normal limits. I certainly think it a question well worthy of asking your GI though particularly if the colonoscopy reveals you have disease affecting the large bowel ...Ulcerative Colitis, Ileocolitis or Crohn's Colitis.

Good luck and I hope you have solid answers soon!

Hi there. I have crohns and psc. Best way to find out is to have a liver biopsy or mrcp which may show narrowing of the bile ducts. It's a very slow progressing disease so early diagnosis is beneficial so you can start on ursofalk, in fact you Do have psc or pbc

The reason why I'm testing for IBD is because of my stools with blood on the surface. Luckily it went away in 2 days. I went to doc and they found I had a really high lipase count over 8x the limit, consistant with pancreatitis. However I had no pain or ANY of the symtoms of pancreatitis, even before. Lipase is now normal.

So they ran 2 ct scans, ultrasound, fecal test, rectal exam, repeat test and all were normal. Slightly enlarged appendix. Went to see gastro and he think my pancreas enyzmes were triggered by infection or inflammation. Tested for hep and autoimmune and was normal.

My only symptoms in life are being lactose intolorent starting when I was 22. I used to drink tons of milk, now it causes loose stools and lower cramps during bowel. Bloating after every meal along with GERD is another complaint. I'm 28 and pretty healthy but something is going on inside me.

It could be IBD, Ulcer or chronic pancreatitis. We'll see.

Interestingly dobong, pancreatitis can be an extra intestinal manifestation of IBD and often precedes the onset of intestinal symptoms.

My daughter had highly elevated lipase one day, and was diagnosed with pancreatitis, and the next day they had returned to normal. This was a week prior to her diagnosis.
