Husband had a resection on June 13. About 3 to 4 weeks later he began having severe abdominal pain. CT showed inflammation, but couldn't tell if it was an infection or a Crohn's flare. He has been on Entyvio for about a year, and it seems to have been working. He has been taking Flagyl for over a week with very little relief. The pain is extremely bad. Anyone had any similar infections post surgery? Treatment?

I had an open surgery resection. I started out in immense pain but day, by day it improved. By four weeks I felt better than ever and even went on holiday to London. I would be concerned if your husband is deteriorating rather than improving and severe pain is not a good sign. I am wondering about infection or problem with the bowel join? I would probably go back to ER.

Hi mary.. i would say the same as eleanor, get on to gp or surgeon.Dont hang on in pain try to get it sorted asap.

Definitely get it checked out. They may need to run some more blood work and tests, such as an MRE. I'm just under 3 weeks out from my resection and feel wonderful. I hope he can get the much needed relief soon.
