I have been living with Crohns for 40 plus years and except for a temporary illeostomy in 1977 due to a perforation, have weathered the storm reasonably well.. Over the past several years the frequency of my diarrhea and cramping has been steadily increasing and unfortunately the resultant dehydration caused by the loss of water has been a really difficult problem to manage physically and emotionally. I was diagnosed several months ago with an acid reflux condition and after some trials with zantac, my gastroenterologist prescribed a drug called 'tecta' to address / absorb excess acid in my stomach and small intestine. The drug has relieved the gas problems, but as a side effect the tecta seems to have almost eliminated my runny stools and diarrhea where i can say now that if I take the tecta daily, my crohns symptoms have almost gone into remission. I am not sure if this will work for others out there but it has brought my life back to almost normal..
