I am new here and have some anxiety. Recently while inserting my canasa suppositories i felt an area about an inch inside of anal canal that feels like a skin tag. It is a raised area, small and flappy. It also seems to get inflamed when i have many bm. My gastro sent me to a colorectal surgeon practice and i drew the surgeon who had literally started 2 weeks earlier. She did dre and anascopy and two days later a flex sig. She biopsied area which came back negative for dysplasia and neoplasm. The path report said hyperkeratosis which is thickening probably from scar tissue. The reason i am freaking is doc called me and said i have a few of these areas and she initially thought they were warts and was surprised the pathology report did not detect them as such. She said they look peculiar and wants to do another flex sig in a couple of months to look again. My question is can skin tags occur inside anus. Also can scar tissue resemble skin tags or warts. Finally can i trust the path report. The doc did say she took a good sample and if it had been a wart the path would have indicated it. As you can see i am overly anxious about this.

Hi and welcome to the forum!!! :welcome: It looks like your doctor did do well with their sample for you. I'm sure if there is something there, they should find it and be able to treat you properly. We're here for you and please keep us updated. Sending you hugs.

I know that it's possible to have internal hemorrhoids, so I would imagine that it's possible you may have had a hemmie that either didn't heal right or formed scar tissue or whatever, something like that could have formed a skin tag. I'm not sure and I'm not a doctor, but I would think it's possible. I hope it's nothing major - good luck!
