I'm seeking help for my friend who is suffering from a blockage. I know very little about her disease; I'm trying to learn about it on the Internet, from forums such as this. I can tell you she's had multiple surgeries and only has 5' of intestine left. My question is... the only thing she knows to do for this blockage relief is to bounce on her bed in an apparent attempt to unkink??? Can anyone please give me any other suggestions she can try? TIA

I agree with Cara... whenever I slow down, it's strictly liquid diet till things work they're way out... nothing solid goes in till something comes out.

Hmmm, never thought of that. Lactose always gave me the big 'D', now group from Japan has taken lactose, removed all of the monosaccharides from it till its just pure, and made a syrup by adding some water.. (OK, well it's a little more complicated). As a polysaccharide, it wouldn't be broken down, the body can't absorb it, so it's only choice is to elliminate it from the GI tract. I could probably do the same with just lil lactose... Funny how one puts on blinders, sees only the problems, and overlooks a possibility. Of course, if you aren't lactose sensitive, either may not work for you...

Thanks!

Thank you all for your responses. It is scary and frustrating not knowing how to help her. I've forwarded all your replies. Apparently the blockage passed quickly, but it has taken a week for her to get back up and running. Again... THANK YOU.
