Is changing Humira injection sites a requirement

I was told to keep changing legs every other week with the injection.
Is this a requirement or a suggestion, and if just a suggestion, for what purpose?

Thanks

It's to prevent a build up of scar tissue which happens if you inject the same area frequently. It is required I would say but if you forget and do the same leg twice its not a huge issue. Just try and remember or write it down so you can switch.

I've heard same as what FrozenGirl said. To prevent formation of scar tissue. Scar tissue impedes the absorption of the medication.

We use the same two sites, as it is her preference. Our nurse said that was ok but we'd have to move it around if there was scar tissue forming.

I do a rotation. Left leg, left stomach, right leg, right stomach, left arm, right arm (tricep fatty area). I'm hairy, so I shave the spot too, as a reminder as to where I put the last shot.

Good Luck

I do mine on my stomach, left one week, right the next. I also change how high up I do them. That's mostly just random placement. I use my phone calendar reminder set to "Humira Right" and "Humira Left" set for every other week so I remember which side.

Matt has a fridge magnet that he received in his Humira pack:
