I am having a bad flare up from september. Currently on Pentasa and Azithioprine.
I was on prednisone from January but didn't see much effect as I usually do when on prednisone, and once I came off it end of feb and I was having diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite. The symptoms got worse slowly to the point even if I take a sip of water I vomited.
Got tested for c- diff and doc doesn't think it is SIBO. Anyways I was given a nausea med, 10 day course of Xifaxan and prednisone 40 mg.
Those 10 days were great, I had super appetite and ate all the time and still was hungry. 5 days after I stopped Xifaxan my symptoms (nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite) started coming back. I was still on pentasa, Azithioprine and prednisone. Now started a 2nd course of Xifaxan y'day and I feel a lot better today. Does anybody had such experiences. My doc thinks its a flare up and not SIBO.
Does Xifaxan help with flare ups and anybody having diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite symptoms as a part of flare up? I am really confused now. Next week I am supposed to get my first shot of Humira.
