Is Medrol the same as Prednisone?

I've been taking this medication for about 2 months now, Medrol (16mg) once per day. Not allowed to post links but it is basically methylprednisolone, the substance. I was wondering if it is the same as the well known Prednisone. I have noticed that I lost a lot of weight lately, there might be other factors too, but I am quite worried

From what I can tell, it's not quite the same but is very closely related. Apparantly it is prednisolone which is methylated at the 6th ring. Whatever that means. I do know that prednisolone is the pro drug (converts into in the body) of prednisone. They are both corticosteroids, and have very similar uses and side effects.

They are practically the same but slightly different for different conditions.
