Hello,
Tomorrow is my two week anniversary of being diagnosed with Crohns. I have been on Budesonide for 9 days. No improvement only a steady decline. Since my colonoscopy 2 weeks ago I have had 7 flares that are increasing in intensity. Is this normal? Should the budesonide be improving this? My doctor won't see me until I have the small bowel follow through on Wednesday. And I don't go back to him for another 2 weeks....

Everything on me hurts, I don't sleep well, I don't eat well.
And college finals start in a week...
Send help...

I am sorry for what you are going through. Can you call and tell them what is going on and ask for some advice? Keep us informed on how you are doing.

I tried calling my doctor .. they told me to go do the small bowel follow through and then (as the nurse so eloquently put it) "we can talk because the doctor will have a better picture of what's wrong." My doctor won't help or give any advice until he "has the whole picture." A phrase I am getting sick of hearing....

Hello, sorry to hear what you are going through. It is probably not 7 flares but rather all the same flare that varies in intensity. Budesonide can take a few weeks to take effect I can't remember exactly how long but maybe as many as 4-8 weeks? For some people it doesn't always work and they may need to move up to prednisolone. Hopefully your doctor will be preparing to start you on a maintenance medication as well which should help.

My daughter had a this procedure last month. She also began to have a flare afterwards. She was given prednisone. She did have active inflammation.

My doctor put me on Budesonide. I am not sure if it is helping or hurting... he won't prescribe any new meds until he get the results of the small bowel follow through.

Thank you for advice! I will keep my fingers crossed that the budesonide works..

picoprep makes me flare..i ended up in hospital 3 times in a month after a colonoscopy, which the GI said looked horrible, and what had I been telling him that I was feeling fine for almost 6 months...I told him I felt fine until 3 hours after the first glass. I warned him beforehand, as something similar had happened prior to my first colonoscopy. I fired him.
