Thank you for taking the time to read my post. I was diagnosed with Crohn's in Nov of 2012. I went on Asacol shortly after and was doing pretty good until about 2 weeks ago.

I hate to be so descriptive about the following, but I feel I need to be to really explain what is going on. Since two weeks again, my "bowel rhythm" has been a challenge and very different. Everything will be quiet for 3-4 days and then (like today!) all hell breaks loose. I get the urge to go to the bathroom and I don;t have a lot of time. The first trip to the bathroom my bowels are soft kinda like soft ice cream. The second and third visit to the bathroom it gets softer and finally just liquidly. That all won't be so bad, but I usually throw up while going to the bathroom due to the overwhelming sensation or urge of needing to go to the bathroom. After this big drama event, I'm very tired and shaky.

My Crohn's is limited to my lower intestinal tract right now which I know is a blessing compared to what it could be. I am worried though on my future with this disease. While this is fairly new, I'd really like to get this under control now so hopefully I can delay or never see the really bad conditions with Crohns.

Any suggestions on what I should be doing now? Should I be pestering my Dr.'s to switch medicine? Is this even a flare up? I was given steroid enema treatments on my visit to the Dr. 2 weeks ago. After today though, I'm not sure that is working.

ANY suggestions would be very appreciated! I'm nervous about this (especially since the disease is so new to me) and I'd really like get this under control.

Thank you so much!

Ryan

Hi Ryan
Sorry to hear that you are not so good at the moment.
Like you, in the past, I would have 3/4 goodish days and then 2/3 days of loose and/or diarrhoea but no vomiting. I think if you are vomiting for a day or more (unless you may have a tummy bug or food poisoning) you should think about going either to your GP or the ER. My view is that vomiting should always be checked out.
It is scary when you are first diagnosed and learning to live with this condition but this forum is full of wonderful people and really good advice.
Take care & let us know how you get on. 😎

Hi Ryan, I agree that you should let your doctor know about this. Asacol is a pretty mild med and it might not be keeping the inflammation in check. And as CeeCee said, vomiting is never something to be ignored. Get it checked out. Good luck and feel better soon!

Oh, and nothing is ever TMI on the forum so no worries about being descriptive here! We all go through it so don't be embarrassed, you're among friends here. :)

Hi, Ryan! I was wondering how you're feeling now. Have you seen your doctor, and what did they suggest?

 I hope you're doing better!
