A few weeks back I reported that my doctor did an abdominal CT Scan. The results all showed normal with the exception of a possible fistula or scarring. I was also having bleeding and pain during every BM. This lasted a couple of weeks. Now...no bleeding, no pain.

What the heck? I'm not complaining. I just don't get it. What could that have been about? How does the problem just go away with no medication or diet changes?

Like I said, anal fissures usually heal on their own. 2 weeks is about average. It's like cutting your finger with a piece of glass or a pocket knife or whatever. It bleeds and hurts, then the bleeding stops and it closes up. Then it just heals until it's not visible anymore.

Thanks Colt!

I suppose this is a first for me. Now I will better understand in the future. Another question....Does this somehow indicate a mild flare? How is this related to Crohn's disease? Am I just more prevalent to them now?

Fissures can happen to anyone. If you had a really acidic bm or a really hard bm you can get them. You could get them if the area isn't perfectly cleaned and then the friction can cause it. You could also get it from using crappy toilet paper, learned that the hard way.lol

Just keep your butt cleaned and wipe with good toilet paper. Soaks help a lot. In the next few weeks if you had a fissure I would try to keep your diet from causing you to have constipation or acidic d. Best of luck

I've had my fissure for about 8 or 9 months now... :/

Right, some are severe just like a cut can be. If it goes that long they'll usually cauterize it for you.

Related to crohn's anal fissures are usually a result of either an ulcer that rips wider (like tearing a perforated line or having a hole in your pants), or because of inflammation making the tissue extremely vulnerable to tears from stretching due to hard or large BMs, or from things like wiping as were mentioned.
