Ok, I have the roid-rage really bad, so maybe this converstion with my gi's nurse shouldn't have ticked me off as much as it did.

Backstory: on Monday my pharmacy requested authorization from my GI for refilling my pred. I have enough pred to last through Sat. Today the pharmacy still didn't have the authorization. So I called my GI's nurse:

She said they received the request but it wasn't authorized yet, maybe because "It's not good to be on pred long-term". Um, what????? I was so taken aback I was probably really rude, cuz I just blurted out "I'm on 30/day and I can't just stop!" to which she snapped "I know that". So she said she's going to check with the PA or with the GI when he's back in the office tomorrow.

(The 30mg/day is my instructed dose from my GI.)

I'm probably overreacting here, but seriously... "It's not good to be on pred long-term"?????? It's also not good to die from not tapering pred!!!

Thanks for letting me vent!

They're right, but you're more right. Stopping cold turkey from 30mg would be disastrous! Hopefully she's just getting some sort of taper schedule together before refilling it.

Thanks Stephanie - the thing with the taper schedule is that I'm in the process of changing GI's (because of insurance), so my last instructions from my current GI were to stay on 30 until I see my new GI (next Wed). Argh!!!! Pred screws up my mental state so badly that to have to fight to get a refill of that aweful stuff so that I don't die from withdrawal makes me so mad! (In case ya couldn't tell there...)
