:voodoo: Hi - have joined website and find it a real comfort knowing that there are so many others who have this crappy disease. Bit of background I was diagnosed with crohns in 2005 after years of pain and going backwards and forwards to doctors - I had surgery to remove blockage and part of small bowel and large bowel, since then have been on pentasa which doesnt really seem to do anything and recently my flare ups have begun to get a lot worse and closer together. This week has been particularly bad which is what prompted me to join the forum - am existing on rice cakes and chicken noodle soup at moment - everything else causes awful pain and straight to the loo - which is very difficult when you are working and on reception - people give you strange looks if you keeping disappearing off to loo. Am due to have colonoscopy and gastrophy (not sure of spelling!) in September but was wondering if anyone has any helpful advice for foods to eat when pain very bad. Also whenever have any bad news or stressful situation it is like being given an enema!! Anybody else get this !!

Welcome PERDITA! I hope this forum helps you with your situation. Please look through the forum or feel free to ask any questions you may have!

Hi Perdita. Things like chicken and rice with a few safe veg like carrots, broccoli etc are probably your best bet.
There's a few of us on here sprinkled about the uk!

Welcome to the forum, Perdita.
When I'm suffering I tend to eat what I term "splodge", which is anything gooey and mushy. For example, pasta with tomato sauce (with all the lumps picked out) and some cheese sauce on top. Maybe scrambled eggs and beans

Hi, Perdita, and welcome!

I'm still trying to figure out the whole what-can-I-eat thing as well, so I'm sorry to not be any help there.

Just wanted to welcome you :)

Ok, thanks for that everyone, will try some carrots if you think they will be ok have always avoided veggies of any sort but brocali - yuk!!
