Had to stop Humira because of side-effects. Have two pens left that I did not use and are still sealed in the packaging. Is there a place to donate them? Or just dispose of them?

With the cost of it, hate to waste it when it works well for some people. Can't really say anything bad about Humira. It was actually working for me but the side-effects were worse than my Crohn's. Moving to Cimzia or more likely (as afraid of the syringes) Remicade if insurance approves it.

Call your Humira provider to ask, or possibly your pharmacy. I'm not sure if they'll accept that, though. :( You may just have to hand them over for them to dispose.

If your laws are anything like ours, once dispensed they can’t be reused. If they are then you would obviously have some secure way of disposing your used pens so just add the unused ones to it.

I agree with theocean to call Humira but I think dusty is right and they would need to be disposed of. Your GI office can prob take them during your next visit.

I was just trying to see if it could be used by someone, somehow. I will put them in my sharps container before I drop it off.

Seems a shame to waste, as there are people who fall into the hole between medicaid and insurance and cannot afford meds like Humira.

Its definitely a shame but there are tight regulations over this which I'm sure you can understand. It's illegal to sell or even give away prescription medication. I know some meds can be recycled and organizations do give them to patients. I have seen med drop off boxes for AIDS meds but they probably aren't refrigerated and maybe don't carry the same risks if tamper proof.

That specific legislation is only for Cancer drugs. Found the representative who authored the bill in Florida. In Florida they allow individuals to donate the medicines. Going to write her in the morning asking if it can be expanded to include other medications. Obviously my own Humira will go to waste still, but could help people in the future.

Appreciate you finding that.
