Does anyone take liquid budesonide for crohn's? I just started it today but I do not know if it will be an effective as the pills for crohn's.

Why liquid?

Budesonide is a topical steroid so I would think a liquid form would primary treat inflammation in the esophagus and stomach, maybe the duodenum.

What did your doctor say when you asked him/her?

Where is your disease located? I have taken the delayed release capsules many times for the small intestine.

The disease is in the ileum and large intestine mainly. The most severe inflammation is in the ileum and a little up the small intestine.
I was prescribed the liquid because my insurance sucks so the budesonide pills cost almost $1000 until I meet my deductible. The compounded liquid is more affordable. Supposedly it is compounded to reach my small and large intestine bypassing my throat/stomach.
It tastes horrible is all I know right now.

Ok as long as it mainly acts there and not elsewhere. I didn't realize that can be done with liquid. Never heard of delayed release liquid meds.
