Liquid Diet and Stools?

The other day, I felt like I was getting ready to have a bowel obstruction. Its was really scary....I was having very very painful cramps every 5 minutes followed by very very loud, long noises from my intestines that I could feel vibrate my abdomen. So, to avoid hospitalization, I started a clear liquid diet. It's been about 35 hours of only clear liquids and I'm feeling good! Cramps have gone down to barely anything and I'm still passing gas and passing stool (good news)

I plan to do only liquids for another 2 days or so and then go onto soft foods only like pureed squash, avocado, yogurt.

But here is my question: Does there come a point when on a clear liquid diet that you start pooping clear liquid? Right now I still have some solid or semi-solid coming out, but should it turn totally clear after a few days? Anyone have experience with this?

Thanks!

I have an ileostomy and that's what happens. I pass off coloured water. Hope you continue to improve.

My son did exclusive enteral nutrition for six weeks. During that time, his stools were pretty much just yellowish liquid, exactly what the formula looked like. Before commencing, our dietitien told us that might happen (ie liquid in, liquid out). Once he added food back, his stools went back to normal.

However, I've heard of others on exclusive EN who did not have this experience (had normal stools)??? So, I think it may be different for each person.
