Losec

Hi all, Losec if you don't already know is a drug used to stop acid production in your stomach. My inflamation is in my small bowell and stomach. My Gi doc said that the burning pain in my stomach might be due to the fact that the stomach acid is making the pain worse because its already inflammed. Has anyone been prescribed Losec and found that it help?

I haven't used Losec specifically, but I've been on several different acid reflux meds lately. I started on Omeprazole (Prilosec) 20 mg, but my GP decided he didn't want me to be on that one long-term if it could be helped, so he switched me to Ranitidine (Zantac) 300 mg. I was only on that one for about a month, as it didn't work very well. I was recently switched back to Omeprazole 20 mg, and just yesterday I was advised to double the dosage to 40 mg, as I've possibly got gastritis, and the GP said that things like Omeprazole can help heal gastritis. It sounds like you might have something similar going on too, the way you describe the burning and pain in your stomach. I hope the Losec works for you!

I was on omeprozole but made my bowels worse then went onto ranitadine and that helped
