Today has totally sucked. I mean ive delt with back pain before but nothing like this. It feels as if someone's inside me twisting my lower spin and it's pretty freaking intence. Ive had 3 hot baths todaay but shortly after I get out the pain starts uP again. The crohns is hard enough to deal with I don't need this. I don't get why my backs gone all fuct.. Like i said ive had back ( wrist n knees too but feel nothing like this) pain before but this is jacked up to a new level. I typing this with my back up to the radiator and just took some pain meds. But can't live here or take the amount of meds I just ate. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Hi MikeyCND,

Really sorry to hear about your back pain. I have not experienced anything like that before, but I know whenever I do have a form of serious pain, the best treatment is usually total bed rest in a comfortable position.

I would recommend doing your best to do nothing and just relax if it is at all possible. Using the computer as a distraction might keep you in a position that makes the pain actually worse.

I know it is not fun, but hopefully your body can be rid of the pain soon.

Wishing you the best of luck!

Thanks man.

I havnt moved to far from my bed in the last few weeks because my tummy. Bed toilet bath has been the extent of my movements. :( don't know what I'm goin to do.. My lease is up on dec 1 and have to get everything packed up. It's stressin me right out. Don't know what I'd do with no computer.. It's my only connection to the outside aside from the tv. Kinda depressing but could be worse I guess

Hi MikeyCND,
I have had similar back trouble to you some years ago. When my guts were bad I used to toss and turn while trying to sleep and then would end up in a bad position. I think that's what ultimately did the damage. Mikeyarmo is right about doing nothing. Once it settles a tiny bit try to get some 'trigger point' therapy. That really helped me a lot. The deep lower back muscles end up going into spasm (they contract and simply won't release) and need to be reset. You'll find your gluteus muscles and hamstrings will have also tightened, and need releasing also. Get someone around to your home if possible. Otherwise rest and muscle relaxers are useful.
good luck.

Thanks guys.

Nope.. The only thing I'm on right now is b12 shots and some pain meds. I havnt takin Imuran for a few years do to a horrible infection I got when on them
I don't have the best of luck with meds unfortunately:(
I've tried pretty much everything through out the years.
Trigger point therapy?? What does that involve??

There are 'trigger points' which can be found by locating taut bands of muscle, and nodules. The point(area) is pressed hard (!) and held until the muscle relaxes (a minute or two usually.) You can also use a mild electrical stimulus to pulse the muscle. Heat is often applied also. It's a little painful while they're pressing, but causes release of tension. They should also work on the hamstrings and butt muscles as they tighten to compensate when the back muscles contract. Any sports massage or therapy massage person should understand these techniques. 'Quadratus lumborum' (deep muscle near kidneys) was the culprit muscle for me!
Take it easy.
