Lump at injection site

I did my injection yesterday morning, it's now the following night, and I still have a lump where I injected. I've been on HUMIRA or a few months now, and that lump always disappears within 12 hrs or so.

At what point do I need to see a doctor?

Thanks

If you don't have any accompanying side effects I wouldn't be too worried if it remains at the injection site. You can mention it to the doctors but they will probably just tell you to take Benadryl when you inject.

It's a little itchy but I haven't scratched it. Glad to hear that. I was under the impression that it was the actual medication forming that bubble.

I get that too. My GI says about 10% of people on Humira get it, and getting that reaction isn't necessarily indicative of an allergy. I did a test recently, and I have absolutely no antibodies to Humira, but get that weird injection site reaction. You can try taking Benadryl or some other kind of antihistamine before and after your injection and see if that helps! I know it makes mine last a bit less long.

So: mention it to your GI, but it's probably not anything to worry about!

Many people have site reactions like that immediately or hours after injection. They aren't necessarily an allergy like the ocean says and are harmless albeit annoying and scary at first.

I've been on Humira about a year and a half, and the last couple of months I've had a little nodule under the skin and itching where I inject.

That's similar to what happened with me. I was fine for the first three months I was on it, then suddenly I started getting the injection site reactions. It itches for me, as well.

Yep new one for me. I injected 40 mg in each leg the right went fine earlier but the left something was clearly wrong it looked like a blister when I pressed all the humira just came out. That's never happened before it kept bleeding for about an hour and just this rather large swelling and bruised now.

You could try icing the site for about 10-15 minutes before injecting. That usually helps hold off site reactions. For the itching some hydrocortisone cream or anti-itch lotion on the skin may help a bit, too.

I wonder if maybe you got into muscle, instead of the fat under your skin? I'm sure it would freak me out if the Humira came back out and I kept bleeding. I usually inject in my tummy because I know I have plenty of fat there - no chance of reaching muscle with the little pen. :D
