So, after two years of symptoms I am still undiagnosed.
~August 2010; diarrhea-ab pain-rash-white blood cell count 26 (treatment with cipro/lialda/steroids for one month), during that "event" I had a CAT scan that showed inflammation, a colonoscopy that showed inflammation of the ilium but not much else, and an upper GI follow through that showed inflammation.
~Last week-Nov 2010; Diarrhea with mucus and red blood-rash-bad ab pain worse than before. Put going to doc off because of Thanksgiving. Mom falls and breaks hip, I go to hospital all day and evening. I pass out at nurses station asking for ice pack. I am admitted for 4 days. white blood cell count 4x higher than normal. Extreme pain and burning on right side mostly (treatment is now with omeprazole 40mg one per day, ciprofloxacin 500mg twice per day, prednisone taper (I was IV pred in hosp), metronidazole 500mg three times per day, and either lialda or assicole? which the pharmacy got in today...4 days after I got home.
I've lost ten pounds... and my side just burns a lot now instead of hurting so much. Sleep is tough.
They want me to go in for another colonoscopy & upper gi follow through, but I'm not wanting to. The last two really wiped me out. I hadn't eaten much or had solid stool when they did it last time, and I was so sick afterward. It's the holidays... I am going back to college in Feb... and have a ton to handle. I can't do 3 days in bed from these tests. Especially when they may show nothing and the meds appear to be working.
One of these meds is making me drool, like produce a ton of saliva, which is driving me batty, lol. I'm eating a slim fast for breakfast because it stops the hunger feeling, then I can eat reasonable stuff, like low sodium chicken soup or whatever, and not be so tempted to just eat something that I will know will make me sick.
Well, hope all of y'all are good here, it's been ages since I posted on the "tell your story" thread area. If anyone has any advice about meds or any of this, it would be appreciated.
