Does anyone else find that their Crohn's is manifesting into other problems?

I just found out that I have Degenerative Disc Disease in my neck which includes 2 bulging and 2 herniated discs and it's causing radiant pain down my should and into my hand.

I am also on my way to see a Rheumatologist today because I am constantly in pain throughout my entire body; ankles, knees, elbows wrists, shoulders, upper and lower back.

If all of this is not enough, it's seems as though my depression is getting worse and I never seem to get a good night's sleep even though I am on Ambien.

Really hoping to get some answers from this latest appointment.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated...Thanks

There are many EIMs(extra intestinal manifestations) of crohns. They can involve joints, eyes, and skin as well as others.

My son has the EIM of episcleritis which affects the eyes as well as a type or arthropathy which affects his joints when he is flaring.

There is a good NIH article on the EIMs that has detailed info about all of the systems that can be affected. I'm on my mobile now but when I get to my lap top I'll post the link to it here.

yes, as stated above you can have many different types of manifestations, some having to do with deficiencies, some autoimmune for example.

I tend to get eczema and arthritis (mostly in my hip joint) manifestations. when i am flaring, my gums bleed these are the more significant ones that i personally deal with due to crohn's.

Hey donk, have you ever had your vitamin B12 level tested? If so, what was it and when was it done?

Also, seeing as you're on Remicade, you may want to check this out: http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/000446.htm

All my best to you.

Yes, I have had B12 tests before but they tend to come back normal. I still get B12 shot though.

Rheumatologist ordered more blood work and x-rays...Blood work has come back normal for RA and others...Still waiting on the x-rays.

Rheumatologist believes that I may be experiencing some type arthritis due to the Remicade. Coincidentally enough, a lot of this pain began about the same time that my Remicade dose was increased about 8 months ago.

Coincidence???

Hope find out soon...Rheumatologist and GI to discuss.
