Hmmmm, im thinking Kian mite be having a flare at the minute. His appetite isnt as good as normal and his poo is really soft, not diarhoea just very soft and he went twice yesterday which isnt normal for him. He is still on metronidazole but this is his last bottle after being on it for 5 months, dont know if coincidence or not but he stopped drinking his actimel drink and thats when it started, either that or the full fat cows milk, i might try him back on the semi skimmed. Isnt it so difficult sometimes to work things out, i find it especially hard as Kian doesnt show symtoms. he has his bloods in 2 weeks so will know then i suppose. xx

When you say full fat cows milk - is it raw milk or store bought? I think the milk you get there is TONS better than the milk we get here - but if he's wanting milk have you tried lactose free - my son struggles with regular milk.

Hope it isn't a flare!!

I buy it from the supermarket, he normally has semi skimmed but i put him on to the full milk as his appetite wasnt so good. Im going to put him back again and see if it helps. xx

Dodie - We can get whole fat milk that is Lactose-free; can you get that? We can also get ice cream made from the same lactose free milk process. That way he gets the fat without the extra sugar.

Hope it's not a flare Never been very keen on the full fat cow's milk myself, always seems so rich and alot for the tummy to handle. Why did he stop the Actimel? When Andrew was on the Metronidazol I used to give him a bio-yoghurt every day rather than a drink like Actimel - might be worth a try.

It was really after the wee procedure he had done back in Dec the ibd nurse suggested we use butter and full fat milk for the calories and healing process so i did for a while. He just got fed up with the actimel but he is now taking it again after i explained that he seemed better when he had it, hes really good and listens to what i have to say. So, today his appetite is much better so maybe its just a wee blip. be keeping a close eye on him over the next week and his nurse is coming to do his bloods soon too. xx

Hi DustyKat, his appetite is much better now, hes now off the metronidazole so im glad of that and so is he :) he has had more bowel movements though recently and this morning he got out of bed needing a poo but didnt go, he just had the feeling. so i wonder if its his body getting back to normal after being on the metronidazole for 5 months? He has his bloods tomorrow so i guess we will have the result soon and know whats going on. Thankyou for asking and i hope things are good your side too :) xx

Thanks for the update dodie,

Good luck with the bloods! I will be thinking of you both.

Dusty. xxx
