I am sorry if this has been posted previously, I tried searching for it first.

Has anyone experienced sensitivity to mesalamine? I was originally put on Delzicol and noticed some relief the first week, but then I felt like my symptoms worsened. I was switched to Lialda and never felt any relief, only symptom worsening. I stopped the medication on my own a month ago after experiencing new abdominal pain, the CT scan came back normal. I have since been feeling well and am tapering off Entocort as well.

Just curious if anyone else has had a reaction to mesalamine that has made them feel worse than better?

I have a sensitivity to aspirin. No one asked me before giving me Mesalamine. Within 2 weeks I was very ill with heavy bleeding. Once I stopped Lialda, it took about a month for things to calm down. My docs have banned me from it.

When I was first diagnosed with Crohn's, I was put on Mesalazine and within a couple of weeks I was having the most uncomfortable chest pains. As it wasn't listed as a side effect as far as I could see, I put it down to anxiety. It wasn't until I started having fainting spells that I decided to stop the drug to see if it was that and sure enough, I started to feel better. When I began taking the drug again, I was back to feeling ill so there was no doubt in my mind what was causing it.
