I'm starting Humira this week for the first time after being on Remicade for a couple years. I'm switching because of a severe allergic reaction to Remicade.

My first dose will be done at a clinic to monitor me for a reaction. Any best practices on how long I should stay at the clinic for monitoring for an immediate reaction?

I know with allergy shots the gold standard is 30 minutes since most immediate reactions occur in that time

DS switched from remicade to humira due to allergic reaction as well
The Gi wanted it done in the clinic to monitor for a reaction
The nurse who gave the first shot had no clue even told us she would do the same thing as I would do at home
So I took DS and waiting on the hospital cafeteria which is next to DS allergy clinic with his epi pens in my purse just in case for about an hour

Good luck

Fwiw DS has not had any issues in over 2 years on humira

Thanks very much for the quick response. Always good to hear about people who were allergic to Remicade but not Humira.
