Good show by M&M Meats! Their charity events (especially the annual BBQ fundraiser) and other ongoing store promotions are making a big difference!

I volunteered for their BBQ last year and plan on doing it again. I had an absolute blast!

This is becoming well-known in Canada. M&M Meats is a national chain of gourmet frozen foods.

Some would challenge your use of the word 'gourmet' connected with anything M&M.

A few years ago when my wife and kids went to Russia for the summer and I was left here all alone, I thought, "Well, I'll get M&M frozen foods." I bought $100 worth of that crap and ate it for a week. After a few days of eating it, my mouth developed an overwhelming salty taste which no volume of water could wash away. The food tasted as good, well, as good as factory processed frozen food gets, but damn, so much salt and chemicals can't be good for a person.

Nice effort on M&M's part, but they're part of the problem today: too much processed food, not enough homecooked meals from basic, fresh ingredients.

I read that the average Canadian spends 15 minutes a day preparing food; that's only 5 minutes per meal. That means it's pre-prepared stuff, just tossing it into the microwave or oven. No wonder our guts are revolting.

I spend at least an hour a day preparing food, and still manage to run a couple of small businesses, tend to family needs, waste time posting on forums, drink a bottle of wine here or there. Of course, Mrs. Doger is a stay-at-home Momma, so that helps of course. That will change when our youngest girl goes to school next year; Mrs. Doger will be going to busines school.

I also support the M&M's bbq, it is hopefully for once I can volunteer, always turns out I am in a flare or something is going on. It lands May 8th this year.

Roger, I agree it isnt the healthiest food but it does have some good things and like all prepared foods you have to read the label! The chicken grill is great, I have one and steam my own veggies. Everything in moderation. I love the Frozen yogurt Vanilla, nice treat. It is always best to prepare your own food but you cant live on prepared foods.

If your cupboard has more food than your fridge, it is said you are eating too many carbs, sugar and sodium.

M&M's meats is a great supporter of Crohn's. All my friends attend. Awareness is very important and obviously we still need more!

From the article: "Afflicting more than 200,000 Canadians, IBD is more common than Multiple Sclerosis or HIV and about as common as Epilepsy or Type 1 Diabetes."

Wow, I remember reading something like that recently. Way to go, M&M Meats for supporting CCFC and geting media exposure for IBD! And a round of applause for you bbq volunteers :applause: That sound like fun - I wish I wasn't so far "south of the border" so I could join you!

Sorry Inky not sure if are in the states or not, but there is a CCFC.com and they have their own fundraisers. Funding is very low now because of the economy... and you meet alot of people just like you! Cheers!

Hi Pen! Yes, I'm in the states. I'm going to have to check into CCFA events again - when I checked a few months ago their wasn't really any sort of activites anywhere in my area... When I was a kid my family and I were involved in CCFA events (we lived near a major city), and I'd really like to do so again!

Good attitude Inky, most people have no idea what Crohns is until you get it. One of the highest incidences in the world is Canada, and myself and two sibs, have Crohns or colitis. If we dont spread the awareness, who will??? Crohn's and Colitis has very little funding and not sure of the states but it is non profit here, so everything goes for research. Lot's of funding coming up, and if we only did an hour of our time, word spreads.

Glad you joined here, we need your positive attitude!
