I have ileal crohn's, which was in remission by scope 2 months ago. I've been feeling well until the last 4-5 days. Every morning I've been waking up with bad lower abdominal cramping. I've only been able to pass small bits of stool mixed with mucous and have been feeling really run down and tired. Strangely for me, I'm not nauseated. I'm going to pick up some Miralax today and see if it helps, but I'm pretty sure I've never been constipated a day in my life.

Thoughts? I'm a little worried as I went on vacation for 2 weeks after my colo and forgot to bring my meds...

Did your colonoscopy show any signs of narrowing? This can cause straining and difficulty passing stool.

No narrowing in my colo. I'm assuming this is just some odd virus as I've been absolutely exhausted sice this started too.

Keeping my fingers crossed it's just a virus. I haven't been hungry for the last few hours (was able to eat earlier). Tried drinking some water and it came right back up - it was really odd, I wasn't even that nauseous but barely made it to the toilet it time.

I feel like you know you have IBD when you have cramping and nausea and hope it's a stomach virus...

I'd be careful with the laxatives, especially if you've not taken them before. They can be very strong. Unless you've gone several days without passing anything or you're having to strain excessively to pass anything, you probably don't need a laxative.

Flares can vary so that you don't necessarily experience the same symptoms each time, though I know once you've grown to expect certain symptoms, a new one (or the lack of one) feels like it's something other than Crohn's, but it isn't always the case.

Passing small bits of stool and mucus doesn't sound that much like a stomach virus.

How are you feeling now? I'd start considering seeing a doctor if your symptoms aren't easing.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that it's not a stomach virus but I'm starting to feel better as long as I watch what I eat. This happens to me a few times a year and if I can watch what I eat it normally passes. Not sure if it's Crohn's related or not, but at this point I don't feel too bad.

Thanks for the advice!
