Hi having an MRE of small bowel on Monday......hopefully this gives us the info we need so I may get started on meds! Does an MRE show enough detail to figure out where my problems are even if I don't have active crohns?

MRE could show inflammation or scar tissue but it can be hard for them to differentiate what they see. That being said the test is great in showing structural problems.

I had this test done a few weeks ago and it showed thickening of my intestinal wall in my Terminal Ileum. That evidence along with all of my other symptoms had my GI Consultant sure I have Crohn's so I have received that diagnosis. At the time of the MRE, I didn't feel like my symptoms were flaring but she said the thickening is likely to be scar tissue from previous flares of inflammation. I am now having a colonoscopy next week to assess the extent of the damage in my small bowel. Hope this helps :)

I've actually been diagnosed with crohns but now we're trying to figure out where the inflammation or stricture? Or scar tissue is in the small bowel! A recent colonoscopy revealed ulcers on the terminal ileum and 1999 operative reports and pathology showed active crohns! Long story but I really officially didn't get diagnosed until April of this year! Now we're trying to figure out where the disease is so we can hopefully treat it with meds!!:ybatty::ybatty:
