MRI Drink Causes D?

Today I had an MRI Enterography of my small bowel and pelvis w/ contrast. Of course, this involved drinking 3 bottles of the bowel volumizer. I have Crohn's Disease (they think) and was managing symptoms with a recent Paleo diet, but this drink they gave me is causing major diarrhea!

Have others had this response to this test? How long did it last?

Do you have any food allergies? I can't go near shellfish, so whenever I have to have a scan done with contrast, I have to take a special one... because the 'normal' contrast has a shellfish base. Other than that, a large volume of liquid might cause diarrhea in some.

No allergies that I know of...

I had the same response. Diarrhea lasted few days only and yes, it was severe at first

I had bad D following an oral contrast. I'd had a full bowel prep just before (what fun hey ) so I don't know if that made the reaction worse but it was bad for 2-3 days and lasted a week in all.

Yes , I had an almost immediate reaction to the contrast in my first 2 MRI's , it feels like it goes straight through me. Although , I seemed to be a lot better in my last one for some reason.

I have the same reaction when I have to drink oral contrast. I believe the large amount of liquid is too much for my bowels to handle, so it was getting rid of it in any way possible! it only lasted around 2 days though so it wasn't bad.

Yes, it was awful. And the rebound from the glucagon was miserable.
