My daughter

My daughter has crohn's. She is going to college and struggling with the day to day stuff. Always tired...depression...some days everything is overwhelming...hard to concentrate sometimes...sick some days...many trips to the bathroom. It is going to be tuff for her to finish her degree. She had plans of going to law school until this CD hit her. Now we just need to get through the first degree and see about law school.

She was one of the unfortunate people who took Accutane!

I understand how she feels. I am a teacher. I have taken the year off from teaching to complete my Master's degree. I just finished before I was admitted to the hospital for emergency ileo-cecal re-section. I completely understand her tiredness and frustration, but she can do it. She should make sure her professors are aware of her situation, and she should carefully plan out her assignments so that she can get the most work done while she's feeling okay. Tell her to hang in there, with good treatment and medication, she can feel better.

Welcome KCR! Does her school offer any online classes? I know it isn't the college experience she was dreaming of but it may keep her from falling behind.

When was she diagnosed and what meds is she on?

Hi KCR and welcome! I am sorry your daughter is struggling. College can be a difficult time, especially with someone with CD. Was she recently diagnosed? Has she found meds that have helped? I sure hope she will find the right treatment soon.

Welcome, I'm glad you found your way here. How long has she had Crohn's? If since she was younger, you might be able to share some of your knowledge in our parents of kids with IBD forum.

Sorry to hear your daughter is struggling so much. There is a lot of great information on here from Crohnies as well as other parents. You'll find lots of good advice and support for both you and your daughter.

I think this disease is just as hard on loved ones as it is on the patient!

Hi there

I'm very sorry to hear about your daughter. It must be so hard trying to deal with a chronic disease and college at once. My daughter is hoping to go off to college herself this fall. I am scared to death; but, she keeps this amazing smile on her face and tries her best to follow through with her determination.
Are there any support groups around your daughters school she may be able to join? Maybe it will help her a bit to meet some other people her age that are going through a similar situation?
How long has she had CD ?
