Hi have had Crohn's for over 30 years and used to see the same Gastro doctor until a few years ago because he retired and I had no insurance. I can not stand the way doctors are now forming "groups" who may have 10, 15 or 20 plus specialists. There is absolutely no continuity in this. If I was not well and in the hospital I saw my Gastro Doctor everyday unless he was on vacation etc.
At most he had 2 other partners whom I got to know also. Today I see so many different doctors at any given time when in the hospital and each as their own way and belief and knowledge. They do not communicate properly with my PCP doctor or each other and I feel like a number. My case is complicated and my doctor who retired has even tried to speak with some of these other new doctors I have but it does not make any difference. What is happening in the Healthcare system in The USA, just like so many other things, are bigger entities are being formed to make more money. When I get a flare or something and have to go to the ER that is even worse. I KNOW MY BODY AND MY HISTORY AND WHAT WORKS AND WHAT DOES NOT. I had a ER doctor debate if I even had Crohn's. That one pissed me off and I reported her. I have to advocate for myself now a days so much and it is so hard when you are trying to battle this disease and all it is causing. Not enough doctors: ER, regular and even Gastro doctors know enough about Crohns or Colitis. Hey, I was diagnosed in NY by a Doctor Henry Janowitz who was a pioneer and apprentice of Dr. Crohns himself, who the disease was named after in the 60's. Before then and even sometime now they call it Regional Enteritis.

Also the topic of pain. I have Crohns and Colitis and also scar tissue adhesion's from 5 surgeries, Gastritis, Esophogitis, spastic colon, IBS, no gallbladder and more. When I am in pain I MEAN I AM IN PAIN!!!. IV narcotic medicine is the only thing that will calm my pain to any sufficient level when I get to certain pain level. Then some may not give it to me and some think i am a drug addict (especially if they see me in the ER a lot). I am sorry, I do not take strong narcotics when I am at home and not in major pain BUT if I am you better FUXXYUYY GIVE IT TO ME. I wish they could walk in my shoes for minute when I am in severe pain, just a minute. DOCTORS AND THE HEALTH SYSTEM need to WAKE up.

I don't want to draw this post out but I have to talk about a recent experience. I got sick, went to ER as usual, They did very minimal testing, A CT scan and blood Work alone can not accurately tell the whole story for each person. They literally kicked me out of the ER after an 2 hour battle I gave. They put me in a wheel chair and rolled me out. The next day I was not only back to the ER but admitted immediately to the ICU!!! Can anyone believe that????

I am so sorry. I have been told my case is complicated andand they have sent me to teo different from
