Finally calming down after getting my first welt with a Humira injection. I've been on it for a few months with no problems, but I got a welt a little bigger than a dime around the injection site this time. At first I freaked out and thought the needle hadn't gotten in far enough and all my medicine was sitting just under my skin. Called Aetna's after-hours nurse hotline and had a nurse tell me it's just a minor skin reaction, which is not terribly uncommon. I also realized had forgotten to ice the area first, so that might have made things worse. Anyways, phew! Anyone else out there freak out when you got a welt for the first time? I feel so silly now. :p

Mine got a little swollen one time and had a not so pretty bruise for a good week or so...but the puffy-ness went away and I just sucked it up. They aren't to pretty though, that's forsure.

This happened to my son last week, he's been on Humira just 2 months and I'm still learning the syringe. I think some of the medicine got on his skin, he had a small blister-like welt the next morning but only for a day.

For some reason it happens to me every third time or so. Most of the time it is the size of a quarter. I need to remember to ice the area first.
