So my GI (with whom I dont get along) decided after 3 years of me taking LDN he decided that its suddenly a pain killer and he will no longer Rx it to me, end of story. Im not on any other medication (other than 5mg pred) and he wants me to go on more trial biologics which I am not down for (Ive been the first on several with bad responses always). So basically he said "My way or the highway".. But apparently to switch doctors within the clinic I need a note from my GP who wants nothing to do with me either. And even then I dont get a choice as to what GI I see, its apparently random. What do I do???????? Im so lost. In a flare up and depressed with NO DAMN DOCTOR who cares a hoot about me. I am in pain and even if it was a pain killer he should have no reason to stop my treatment with no legitimate reason. He also says he wants to see me in pain and that "We (in GI) dont treat pain. We are not a pain cinic" (the pain clinic is backed up for over a year) so he can treat me properly but so far he has only made me worse!!!

What the hell? Well, bottom line, is the LDN working? If it is, it's absurd that he would want to take you off it. If not, i guess it's not a bad idea to explore other options (not the ones which you are not on board with, of course). Sounds like you have some pretty sadistic healthcare pros in your area :p

Ps.
Love you profile pic.

dont give up faith. there are doctors who care and who listen. GIs in general seem to be on some power trip. 'my way or highway is what my own doc said to me', i said 'highway.
if LDN is working for you you can get naltrexone yourself. people care. try to find a new outlook and expect to find a caring doc, they will show up and you deserve it. please keep faith.

Wow--that's really all that comes to mind. Um, maybe you should report the doc to some medical board--or whatever canucks call it--and inform all those concerned that naltrexone is the exact opposite of a pain medication. If anything, it's a pro-pain medication since it blocks the effects of pain meds (opiates).

Maybe he misread/misunderstood/mistook "opiate antagonist" for "opiate agonist" and became incensed thinking you pulled a fast one on him/her to get pain meds or "opiate agonists"?????

Anyhow, it really does come down to whether the LDN is working. If so, there are ways to order it from internet pharmacies (of course I can't reccomend it if it is illegal in your country). I mean, in the states it might be a misdemeanor of some sort to be ordering drugs your not prescribed--though I think there are exceptions--if it was argued in court--since, like I said, it's an anti-narcotic, and it is an experimental drug which hasn't been "officially" approved for Crohn's, yet it is in the process of approval (and the safety phase has been satisfied for 10x the LDN dosage etc.). Good luck.

Crohnadian; I feel your pain as my doctor told me last July to stop looking for an answer. Because my test where comming back with no definite answer he said it would pass. I then was taken into hospital two weeks later with a bowel obstruction which I was told was a bit of constipation. i was sent home after four days full of pain meds. Since then i had a colonoscopy and was given Asacol 3x day for the undiagnosed condition. The D has been reduced with this. Since then I have constant pain and luckily I have eventually got a appointment tomorrow with the Pain Clinic.
I was really taken back by the attitude of my Doctor and the Hospital doc who was just down right rude . I cant go back to my doctor as i have lost faith in him and I am so glad i found help on this forum.
I hope you get some help soon.

Have he based his decision on your blood work or other tests?
