Hi again, has anyone got a narrow stricture in there intestine and have been told not to eat fruit and veg and anything with a skin or seed?

Yes, you need to follow the low residue diet, which is very low fibre. Are you having the stricture dilated?

I agree with Dave-abes. It's very challenging. You also need to keep away from from meat with connective tissue (beef, pork). I stick with flaky fish (flounder, haddock, etc). You can have well cooked carrots and beets, mashed potatoes (no skin), and baked apples (no skin). I've been on this diet for 18 months, so let me know if you have ??s. My problem is 20 inches major scarring not a stricture. Trying to avoid surgery as long as possible.

You should follow a low fiber diet. Only white flour foods, dairy and chicken, turkey, eggs. You could have juices though to get some of those vitamins you miss out on from excluding fruits and vegetables.

Thanks noguts. I forgot eggs. I have to be really careful with chicken and turkey. And definitely stay away from whole wheat products. Also watch spices. Parsley, which restaurants put on everything, is a big no for me. I take a multi-vitamin, prescribed vitamin D, and have done B-12 shots, but am not taking now. Also if you can handle the acidity, V8 juice. I know a lot of folks on here have juicers, but I'm not big on juice.

Spices could irritate inflamed tissue but I don't see how they could cause an obstruction unless they are giant pepper Kernels.

After I was getting complications tolerating even a low residue diet, I was put on a 'free fluid' diet for a while. It's similar to Enteral Nutrition.

Basically, I'm drinking Modulen or Fortisip for sustenance, and I can entertain my palate with the likes of anything that is a liquid, or melts to a liquid at body temperature. (i.e. ice cream with no chunks, smooth plain chocolate; strained broths, hot drinks and yoghurt.)

It's the only way I've been well that last week, but it shouldn't be done long term. Ask your doc about it if you think it might help you. :)

I've been OK as long as I chew nuts, etc. well, avoid high fiber stuff and avoid beef and, at all costs, coconut fibers. One coconut macaroon put me in the hospital once, and I suspect the beef problem is due to the coarse connective tissue tangling up like the coconut shreds. Pork and lamb aren't a problem for me.

Wondering your thoughts on the following....my daughter was just diagnosed with a sigmoid stricture so I have been researching.

I did give it a quick read. Did not get the eBook. I might since its free. I wouldn't do it without talking to the GI specialis. I would not start ingesting anything without the doctors approval.

A specialist once said if someone had a cure for scare tissue they'd be a billionaire. Unfortunately anyone can write anything they want on a website. If its too good to be true it usually is.

I did go through the steps to download. It's free but you pay for everything else. I say the stuff to take. The email had the usual disclaimers - for info only. Does not replacemedical advice . Not responsible...

I'll pass.

I have read a bunch of people posting that the DMSO really works. Google it. I bought it all to try...it def won't hurt, and if it works great. Quite honestly, I don't trust most doctors anymore. I have been through the mill with my daughter, and they all say the same damn thing and all go by their damn textbooks. I am the best advocate for my daughter and will continue to research on my own alternative treatments if people are having success with them. :)
