It seems that I had a little issue last week... GREAT~

Tuesday I had a 'little' bleed...I figure, " Hey that's NORMAL! Right?...I have Crohn's Disease....
WELL>>> Apparently not!@!!!!
Wednesday morning, I called the Dr. and he ordered a CBC etc...After a LONG ordeal of getting to a hospital and having issues getting blood, I was admitted to the hospital and got 3 units of blood!!! Geez!!! That is ALL NEW to me. I have lost blood before, but never to this extent! My count was teetering between 5.1 and 6.7 all day Wed.
After CRAZY long day and 3 transfusions, I had a colonscopy to find that my Anastomosis from Surgery LAST MAY isn't healing. There are ulcerations all around it that were bleeding...
Do I follow the same the diet? What can I do to help this healing along?

I would think they would give you are prescription for some antibiotics in case an infection is causing it not to heal. I wonder if this is something can happen without an infection?

Are you on an immune suppressing drug?

I take Flagyl occasionally but they added Entocort back to my meds list. No Flagyl for now. I took Imuran for a while, but am not taking in currently.

What about food? Do I eat the same things as I do for just crohns? Or should I add or take away things specifically for bleeding ulcers?

If your ulcers are from Crohn's then I do not know what you can do about that. If they are from H-Pylori, then you would have to treat for that bacteria.

Some think the same bacteria causes both types. I do not know for sure.

Look up treatments for H-Pylori. Since you are not likely to get antibiotics, you will have to use either natural or alternative methods. One method is Mastic Gum. Most of these are designed for the stomach and I am not sure if they will work farther down.

I know of some experimental methods, but they are only for those who are comfortable with using substances or methods that might work or might not. These are not well documented and all side effects may not be known. I am not comfortable recommending these and would rather have a solution from your doctor.

What do the doctors recommend?

Dan
