Hey, just wondering if anybody has experienced something similar. I was dx with Crohns in 2009. Since then most of the time I don't have much of an appetite but I'm still able to eat. But sometimes I go through these phases where I feel physically hungry but the thought of eating anything has me sitting on the floor in the bathroom trying not to throw up. Usually this can last between a couple days to a couple weeks. Haven't been able to figure out any triggers and for the most part my other symptoms are pretty under control.

I experience something sort of similar. I tend to have zero appetite and some nausea pretty much first thing every morning. The thought of food is repulsive especially right when I wake up. But sometimes my body is like, "I haven't eaten anything since last night so I'm empty and I need food!" So it's a weird nausea-not hungry-ravenous simultaneous thing. It's a bit disconcerting. I'll usually make myself a smoothie for breakfast and pack it in my lunch bag, and drink it after I get to work (mid-morning is usually around the time when the nausea ebbs and I start to have an appetite). Sometimes the nausea is so much that I can't look at my smoothie as I'm making it, yet the ravenousness (is that a word?) makes me want to gulp the whole thing down immediately. It's like my brain and my stomach are both insane and have no idea what they want when I first wake up! Fortunately that feeling usually goes away by mid-morning. So yeah, I think what I experience is sort of similar to what you described! Mine fortunately just tends to last the morning, not the whole day and not days/weeks in a row.

My son can be very hungry yet struggle to eat and he isn't nauseated. Eating can just be a take a big effort.
