Hi everyone,

I am currently undiagnosed but have been suffering for 7 years now,

I have had a colonoscopy, endoscopy and 2 sbft`s (one which they thought showed inflammation, however the second was clear)

I have always said to the doctors that it feels like my problem is in the small bowel and not the colon but I have been written off as having IBS.

I have decided to be my own advocate and pay for some testing as the NHS here in the UK have basically told me to get onw ith it.

So I can save for either an MRE scan (£425) or a pill cam (£2000) but need to decide which one?

This really is my last hope before I give up on life :(

That's a tough one. I found a study comparing the two. It's in kids but I think it's applicable.

I just read over your first post and as long as you're pricing tests, I suggest you price [wiki]fecal lactoferrin[/wiki], [wiki]fecal calprotectin[/wiki], and vitamin B12 levels.

Since it's the cheaper route, here's some more studies/papers on MRE you can Google to see if you'd be comfortable with it:

Thankyou David,

I have just pruchased a Calprotectin test and Anemia panel, so hoepfully this will give us something to go on!

Many Thanks for the advice

How much were they out of curiosity if you don't mind me asking? And if you're willing to share the eventual results, we might be able to provide you some additional insight :)

The blood test was £180 and the calprotectin test was £40
I will post the results as soon as I get them!
