Hi came across this today. I am 10 days into an elemental diet.

"In conclusion, this study confirms that four
weeks treatment with elemental diet, when
tolerated, is as effective as prednisolone. The
number of patients intolerant of the diet is
disappointingly high and together with inability
to sustain a prolonged remission, elemental diet
treatment does have its disadvantages. Nevertheless
it does have a primary role in managing
acute Crohn's disease, and is an attractive
alternative to corticosteroids when avoidance of
the side effects of corticosteroids is essential."

It has some interesting things to say about dietry protein and inflamed gut tissue. The lack of sustained remission finding was based on people returning to a normal diet not SCD or diets that mimic the elemental feed:smile:

The elemental diet is a fantastic alternative to steroids in many cases but unfortunately the remission can't be sustained usually. I think going on an elemental diet while concurrently introducing meds would be great.
