I was diagnosed with fistulizing Crohn's disease in May 2013. The GI I started with seemed to be a nice guy - until he stopped listening to me. I started hearing things like "that's not your Crohn's causing that fever" and "you shouldn't have that much pain". We tried remicade - only after having to be hospitalized twice in two months. I had awful reactions with the first two doses, and they decided to stop the subsequent infusions. That was the last I saw him.
I got in touch with a specialist who gave me a lot of great information on my first visit, and he prescribed humira - in December. Due to my crappy insurance, it had to be submitted twice and a few denials appealed before it went through. I'm still waiting for my first dose. He has since said that he thinks he's "too far away" - he's two hours away - to be able to really help me and suggested I see my former GI. The former GI that didn't do anything for me, gave up on me and didn't listen to me. I'm in the process of STILL WAITING for my humira and looking for a new doctor - again.
Anybody else go through this?
