I have just been diagnosed with Crohn's after years of problems. I am curious about food cravings. Popcorn is high on my cravings list and causes the most trouble for me, I always feel sick and warm (clammy) after eating movie popcorn. Also I crave cheese constantly, I can eat a whole bag of cheese cubes and still crave more. Does anyone else crave cheese or dairy products? I am a 42 male, 180 lbs. who has colon resection due do to diverticulitis. I am happy to finally get diagnosed but also a little afraid to what the future holds. I look forward to learning more about cd here and making new friends.

I definitely have food cravings because I'm limited in what I can eat and seem to really want all the things I can't eat.

Popcorn is a big no no for most of us crohnies but cheese is fine if dairy is not a trigger food for you.

Movie popcorn and processed cheese are a long way from real food.
hmmmmm, butter flavoured grease.

It's probably the (bad) bacteria in your gut screaming for another fix

I gave up smoking years ago, and had strong cravings, and every time i gave in it made the craving stronger

Doctors are smart, but they really don't know **** about what causes crohn's, so look around at what others have done and what results they got.
Strong evidence to suggest that it is closely related to disruption of normal intestinal bacteria, so start with diet and probiotics.

This might (and i only say might) save your colon,
definitely worth trying for 30 days before you have something removed....

I actually go after my cravings during a flare...maybe thats just me. Usually I feel so ill I don't really want to have anything unless its in liquid form so when I want something I eat it.
My cravings are usually chicken wings, chili cheese dogs, or ice cream. Obviously I don't eat a ton of it then but if I can get a large meal down because I'm craving something I go for it. I've already been craving popcorn and it didn't get me sick, maybe I just really needed some sodium or something. Sometimes cravings can be based off of actual needs, so if you want cheese maybe you need more calcium or protein.
